PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve assembly precision, facilitate assembly, and design a bed for common use and quick adaptation to various machine types by assembling an intermediate assembly in advance wherein a spindle head is mounted movably in three perpendicular directions. SOLUTION: An intermediate assembly is assembled in advance wherein a spindle head is mounted movably in three perpendicular directions on an intermediate plate with a pair of first guide portions. A sectionally U-shaped bed has a bottom part, a pair of sidewalls raised upward from both side edges of the bottom part and parallel to each other, and a working space formed between the pair of sidewalls. The pair of sidewalls has horizontal mounting surfaces on the top. Each first guide portion of the intermediate plate of the intermediate assembly is fixed on each horizontal mounting surface in parallel relation between the sidewall and the first guide portion. A jig device for positionally clamping a workpiece in opposition to a tool mounted on the lower end of a main spindle in the intermediate assembly is mounted on the bed bottom part.
