PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a consumable electrode type arc welding method improving the degree of freedom of the supply position of a filler wire to the proceeding direction of an electrode wire and further enabling an increase in a deposit quantity in the consumable electrode type arc welding method using two wires, that is, a consumable electrode wire and a filler wire. SOLUTION: In the arc welding method using an electrode wire 1 generating an arc by a welding current impressed between the electrode wire 1 and an object 8 to be welded, electrode wire is melted and a molten pool 10 is formed and the filler wire 2 is heated by the welding current obtained by shunting a part of a current flowing from the object 8 to be welded to a ground terminal and which is supplied to the above molten pool 10, a solid wire or a flux cored wire is used as the above electrode wire 1 and the flux cored wire is used as the above filler wire 2.
