PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically regulate the image quality to an optimum desired by a viewer in response to a type of a program to be viewed by the viewer. SOLUTION: When the image quality set by the viewer is stored in a memory means of a control circuit 9 at each type of the program, and the same type of the program is again viewed and heard, an auxiliary information detector 5 acquires the type of the same program. An image quality set control means of the circuit 9 extracts the image quality set state corresponding to the type of the same program, and outputs the state to an image quality control processing means of a video signal processor 10. Thus, the image quality can be automatically restored to the desired optimum image quality state set by the viewer corresponding to the type of the same program.
