An array substrate for an In-plane switching LCD and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve transmittance by forming a transparent acrylic-based resin on a transparent common electrode. A plurality of gate lines(104) extend in one direction on one surface of a substrate(100). Data lines(126) intersect the gate lines to define pixel regions. Thin film transistors(T) are formed at each intersection of the gate lines and the data lines. A transparent common electrode(114) is placed on an entire surface of the pixel region. A polymer resin layer, and a silicon nitride(SiNx) layer sequentially overlap an upper portion of the common electrode in plane. A pixel electrode(132) is formed on the silicon nitride layer corresponding to the pixel region, and has a shape of a plurality of bars arranged in plane. |
