PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inhalation anesthetic apparatus capable of feeding a large amount of inhaled gas such as an anesthetic gas containing an anesthetic or the air if necessary, quickly causing the induction of or awakening from the anesthesia, and modifying the flow rate of the inhaled gas or the concentration of the anesthetic smoothly. SOLUTION: This inhalation anesthetic apparatus has an inhalation pathway 3 and an exhalation pathway 4 at its trachea joint 2. The inhalation pathway 3 is provided with a pump 5 for feeding gas, a mass flow controller 6 for adjusting the gas flow rate, and an anesthetic supply means 7 for feeding an anesthetic to the gas, while the exhalation pathway 4 is provided with an respiratory gas valve 10 for switching the inhalation action with the exhalation action, or vice versa, at the trachea joint 2. The inhalation pathway 3 is provided with a bypass circuit 13 capable of feeding the gas without passing it through the mass flow controller 6, and a diverging path 16 on the downstream side from the anesthetic supply means 7 via a switching valve 9.
