PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treated aluminum material excellent in adhesiveness and corrosion resistance, and to provide a resin coated aluminum material which uses the surface treated aluminum material, is excellent in adhesiveness, corrosion resistance, workability and feathering property and is suitably used for a can drum material and can cap material of a two-piece can. SOLUTION: The surface treated aluminum material is provided with an aluminum base material, an anodically oxidized coating film formed on the surface of the base material and an organic compound layer formed on the surface of the anodically oxidized coating film wherein the formed amount of the organic compound layer is 0.5-50 mg/m<SP>2</SP>expressed in terms of carbon, the organic compound has one or more functional groups selected from a group (a) to (c) composed of (a) two or more hydroxide groups, (b) two or more carboxyl groups and (c) one or more hydroxyl groups and one or more carboxyl groups, and the anodically oxidized coating film has 3-500 nm film thickness and 7-50% porosity.
