PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enrich musical sound expressing power and controllability by reproducing a musical sound at an optional sound pitch (a pitch) by variably controlling a reading- out speed, and controlling reading-out waveform data so as to be optionally extended and compressed on a time base independently of its reading-out speed. SOLUTION: An address position of waveform data is shown in a time function by control data. On the other hand, a speed of progress of a reading-out address is indicated by an actual reading-out address RAD generated from an actual reading- out address computing element 16. An address position shown by the control data and a position of the actual reading-out address RAD are compared with each other by a switching control circuit 14, and the actual reading-out address RAD generated by the actual reading-out address computing element 16 is shifted according to its comparison result. Therefore, a speed of progress of the reading-out address is controlled in response to a desired sound pitch of a musical sound to be generated, and the relationship between a reading-out position of the waveform data and time is controlled by the control data. Therefore, the waveform data corresponding to a musical sound having a desired sound pitch is freely extended and compressed, and can be read out of a waveform memory 10. |
