COMPONENT MISMATCH IDENTIFICATION IN RFID READER

Component mismatch in a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader is detected by transmitting a test signal to one or more of the antenna ports (330, 332, 334) during a testing phase. In case of component mismatch, the transmitted test signal leaks into the reception circuit (310) of the RFID reader, and a processing unit (204) determines, based on the received components of the test signal, whether or not there is a properly functioning antenna connected to the antenna ports of the RFID reader.
