Process which uses a capillary (1) coated with a polymer as a mould, for which purpose the protective layer covering the polymer is partly removed, thereby filling the capillary (1) with a polymerization mixture (3) and closing the ends thereof before then placing the whole combination in a kiln for the time and temperature required to bring about polymerization; said combination is then taken out of the kiln and divided into different fragments (4) which are immersed in a solution (6) with reagents for dissolving the walls of the capillary, thereby obtaining monolithic polymeric fibres (7) for use in solid-phase microextraction, with an ability to retain a compound or family of compounds, a step be performed selectively if a template compound is added to the polymerization mixture.
