An assembling method of a process cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes (a) providing a drum frame (13) supporting an electrophotographic photosensitive drum (7) and having a first engaging portion (21) above the electrophotographic photosensitive drum adjacent one longitudinal end of the electrophotographic photosensitive drum, and a second engaging portion (21) above the electrophotographic photosensitive drum adjacent the other longitudinal end of the electrophotographic photosensitive drum (b) providing a developing device frame (12) supporting a developing means (9c) for developing a latent image formed on the electrophotographic photosensitive drum, and having a first compression spring (22a) and a second compression spring (22a) above the developing means adjacent one and the other longitudinal ends of the developing means, and a first projected portion (19) and a second projected portion (19) projected in a direction crossing with a longitudinal direction of the developing means adjacent one and the other longitudinal ends of the developing means; (c) a first engaging step of engaging the first projected portion and the first engaging portion; (d) a second engaging step engaging the second projected portion and the second engaging portion; (e) a first penetration step of penetrating a first penetrating member (22) through a first opening (20) formed in the first projected portion (19) and a third opening formed in the first engaging portion, while the first projected portion and the first engaging portion are engaged; (f) a second penetration step of penetrating second penetrating member (22) through a second opening (20) formed in the second projected portion (19) and a fourth opening formed in the second engaging portion, while the second projected portion and the second engaging portion are engaged with each other, so as to couple the drum frame and developing device frame. <IMAGE> |
