PURPOSE: A denting inspection apparatus and a method thereof capable of accurately inspecting the abnormality are provided to improve the speed and accuracy in setting a necessary inspection area. CONSTITUTION: An inspection area selecting unit(141) receives a message of a photographed image data from a camera. The inspection area selecting unit sets up the inspection area in denting inspection. A dent detection unit detects brightness distribution information by inspection area with an outline of a predetermined shape within the inspection area. The dent detection unit detects denting index according to the detected luminance distribution.
