GROUP IIa METAL-CONTAINING CATALYST SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing a rubber having a high trans microstructure by polymerizing a conjugated diolefin monomer in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: This catalyst system comprises (a) an organolithium compound, (b) a group IIa metal salt selected from the group consisting of group IIa metal salts of aminoalkyl glycols and IIa metal salts of glycol alkylene ethers and (c) an organometallic compound selected from the group consisting of organoaluminum compounds containing <13 carbon atoms and organomagnesium compounds.
