The purpose of the present invention is to provide a medium stacking apparatus, which can stably stack a medium by spraying air to an upper surface of the medium stacked in a medium stacking space, and a control method thereof. To achieve the purpose, the medium stacking apparatus comprises: a first transfer roller and a second transfer roller provided to face each other while interposing a transfer path to transfer the medium to the medium stacking space; a first transfer roller driving unit rotating the first transfer roller; a sheet roller having a plurality of elastic sheets to stack the medium transferred by the first and second transfer rollers in the medium stacking space; an air spraying means spraying the air to the upper surface of a medium entering the medium stacking space after passing through between the first and second transfer rollers to stack the medium in the medium stacking space; and a control unit controlling the air spraying means to spray the air.
