PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fine reading image when reading out a color image by a document reading apparatus in which image sensors are staggered.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus includes: a plurality of image sensors 1, 2 arranged overlappedly like a staggered shape; a dot period detection unit 37 for detecting dot periods of a plurality of colors in a range arranged so as to be overlapped in a sub-scanning direction of the image sensors 1, 2; a dot period calculation unit 38 for calculating a common dot period on the basis of the dot periods of the plurality of colors detected by the dot period detection unit 37; a correction coefficient calculation unit 33 for calculating a correction coefficient on the basis of the common dot period; and a correction processing unit 34 for performing correction processing of images read out by the plurality of image sensors 1, 2 by using the correction coefficient calculated by the correction coefficient calculation unit 33.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
