PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various types of instruments and apparatus used for protecting an image which can directly enjoy image quality feeling or the like of a raw image without depending upon a method for laminating a protective member such as a glass, a film or the like on the image and to provide a method for protecting the image by coating a protective liquid. SOLUTION: The method for coating the protective liquid for protecting the record comprises a step of filling a nonvolatile liquid which does not dissolve a color material into air gaps of a porous layer to protect the image of the recorded matter obtained by recording with an ink containing the color material on a recording medium having an ink acceptive layer made of the porous layer on a support.
