The machine comprises a number of blades which pull the roots out of the ground. These are then sieved to remove dirt and returned to the rear for discharge. The discharge unit comprises two discs rotating in opposite directions towards each other on adjacent vertical shafts. The roots are discharged by centrifugal force down a chute. Several U-shaped plates between the common sides of the discs and spring blades acting on the surface of the discs direct all roots to this discharge outlet.
