Hydroxyalkinyl-azolyl derivatives of the formula in which A is a nitrogen atom or the CH group, R is optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, or optionally substituted benzyl, R2 is hydrogen or methyl, and X is hydrogen, bromine or iodine, or addition products thereof with acids or metal salts exhibit fungicidal activity. Some intermediates therefor are also new.
