<p>Compounds of formula (I), wherein R?1 and R2¿ are each independently H or a biolabile ester-forming group, and either or both of OR?1 and OR2¿ may optionally be replaced by NH¿2; R?3 is (a), wherein R5 is H or methyl, R6 is H or halo, and n is O or 1; (b) CH¿2OR?7, wherein R7 is C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C6 alkenyl, C3-C6 alkynyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl, (C1-C4 alkoxy)C1-C6 alkyl, (C1-C4 alkoxy)C3-C6 alkenyl, (halo)C3-C6 alkenyl, (C3-C7 cycloalkyl)C1-C6 alkyl or (CF3)C1-C6 alkyl; (c) wherein, R8 is CH¿2?OH, CH2OCH3, OCH(R?5)CH¿2OH or OCH2CH2OCH3 and R5 is a previously defined; (d) or (e) (C¿1?-C4 alkoxy)C3-C6 alkenyl or (C1-C4 alkoxy)-C2-C6 alkyl; and R?4¿ is H or hydroxy; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are diuretic and natriuretic agents having utility in the treatment of hypertension, heart failure, renal insufficiency and other disorders.</p> |
