PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the desalination of sucrose solution designed to improve the utilization efficiency of the ion exchange resin packed in a desalination column and reduce the amount of an ion exchange resin regenerant to be used. SOLUTION: A sucrose solution is subjected to desalination by passing it through a strongly basic anion exchange resin column 4 packed with OHA equivalent of a strongly basic anion exchange resin and a mixed bed column 12 packed with OHMB equivalent of the strongly basic anion exchange resin and a weakly acidic cation exchange resin, successively. Subsequently, both the columns 4 and 12 are subjected to regeneration treatment. The above- mentioned cycle is repeated to accomplish the objective desalination of the sucrose solution. In this case, the cumulative flow and pH value of the sucrose solution running out of the column 4 are measured to determine the cumulative flow Ap H of the sucrose solution when its pH value drops, and the amount of the sucrose solution to be treated in one cycle (T) is set at a value calculated by the formula: T = [(OHA+OHMB)/OHA].Ap H.K (K is a constant). |
