The circuit is provided for an electric device with a device circuit board (30) which can be inserted in the device and plugged into a device back plane. A square-cage frame (32) is connected to the device circuit board (30). A cage back plane (40) is arranged perpendicular to the circuit board (30) and is connected to it via plugs (42). The cage back plane wall (40) has plugs (44) for electric connection with cage insert boards or cards inserted into the cage (32). The cage may have guides (50) for inserting the cage inserts parallel to the device circuit board (30). The cage (32) may also have at least one insert compartment to receive a sub-module with a circuit back plane perpendicular to the circuit board. Circuit boards are aligned parallel to the circuit board (30) and perpendicular to the cage back plane (40).
