PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily remove a single component non-magnetic developer adhered to a layer forming blade. SOLUTION: This developing device comprises a developing roll 3 arranged to be rotatable faced to an opening part of a developing housing 2 accommodating a single component non-magnetic developer T therein, a layer forming blade 4 which extends against the transporting direction of the developer on the developing roll 3 with the base end fixed to the developing housing 2 and is arranged in press-contact with the developing roll 3, and a retracting means 5 to making the developing roll 3 approach to the image carrier 1 at the time of developing and retracts the developing roll 3 from the image carrier 1 at the time of non-developing. This developing device is provided with a movable bearing mechanism 6 allowing the developing roll 3 to be moved in the direction leaving from the layer forming blade 4 so that the developing roll 3 is borne to be movable with respect to the developing housing 2, and a contact position of the developing roll 3 with the layer forming blade 4 is varied slightly more toward the free end 4a of the layer forming blade 4 at the time of non- developing than at the time of developing, letting the developing roll 3 run idle at least for a certain period of time during non-developing. |
