PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a direction of scanning light of a rotary polygon mirror with reflection mirrors. SOLUTION: Scanning light L from a rotary polygon mirror 3 is image- formed on a photoreceptor on a rotary drum D via lenses 4a, 4b of an image- forming lens system 4 and reflection mirrors 15, 16. Each of the reflection mirrors 15, 16 is placed so as to reflect the scanning light L to diagonally intersect the scanned surface, namely, the scanning light L is changed in the direction every time it is reflected by each of the reflection mirrors 15, 16. It is possible to keep the image-forming lens system 4, etc., away from a heat-generating part such as a fixation device, etc., by making an axial direction of the rotary drum D parallel to a lengthwise direction of the optical deflection device. |
