PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hierarchical structure preparation method capable of efficiently preparing/displaying the entire hierarchical structure in an order from a highest level based on a master/slave relation table among respective stations in a communication system constituted of one master station B and N slave stations. SOLUTION: This hierarchical structure preparation device for preparing and displaying the hierarchical structure of plural elements provided with master/slave relation is provided with a hierarchical structure analysis means 100 for referring to the master/slave relation table 10 for indicating the master/slave relation among the respective elements and preparing and outputting a hierarchical structure display table 11 provided with at least information for specifying whether or not the respective elements are master elements, the information for specifying whether or not they are the master element of the highest order, the information for specifying the slave elements of the respective master elements and the information for specifying the other slave elements in the same hierarchy of the respective slave elements and a hierarchical structure display means 200 for referring to the hierarchical structure display table 11 and preparing and displaying the entire hierarchical structure of the respective elements.
