PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of a gap in time between the carriage of a photographic film and the holding at a reading position. SOLUTION: The film carrier 10 is constituted of a carrier base 11 and an upper cover 12. Two film carrying paths 13 and 14 are formed between the carrier base 11 and the upper cover 12. Lower masks 60 and 61 are separately arranged on the way of each film carrying path on the carrying base 11, and a film pressure plate 64 for holding upper masks 62 and 63 is attached to the upper cover 12. A solenoid 68 is arranged on the carrier base 11 so as to correspond to the film pressure plate 64. By energizing the solenoid 68, the film pressure plate 64 is attracted, then, the photographic films are sandwiched between the upper masks 62 and 63 and the lower masks 60 and 61. By making a start time of energizing the solenoid 66 earlier than a stop time of carrying the photographic film, the photographic film is sandwiched just after the stop of carrying the film.
