PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning member for assembling an optical connector that enables the assembling time to be shortened by increasing the fluidity of an adhesive within an optical fiber inserting area. SOLUTION: The positioning member 30 is used in assembling the optical connector in which the tip end face 3a of an optical fiber 3 can be inserted through the connecting end face 1a of a ferrule 1. Then, in manufacturing the optical connector, an adhesive R needs to be flowed into a minute gap formed by the wall surface, which forms an optical fiber inserting part, and the surface of the optical fiber 3, in a state where the optical fiber 3 is inserted into its inserting part of the ferrule 1; during this flow-in operation of the adhesive R, the optical connecting port 5 of the ferrule 1 is sometimes blocked by the ferrule butting part 32 of the positioning member 30. Accordingly, a cut groove 50 is provided extending from the optical fiber pressing face 33a to the ferrule butting part 32, so that an air escape (air vent) is formed by this cut groove 50.
