PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for fixing a useful gene in a microbial ecosystem without unnecessarily dispersing the gene. SOLUTION: A microbial strain predominant in a microbial ecosystem is separated from the system, a useful gene is transferred to the strain and the strain is returned to the microbial ecosystem to fix the useful gene in the ecosystem.
