DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF DRIVING THE SAME

A display device and a method of driving the same are provided to improve image quality by applying a weighted value to images, which are abruptly transmitted between a high grayscale and a low grayscale. A display device includes a timing controller(110), a light source driver(170), a light source(180), a data driver(140), and a display panel(160). The timing controller converts a primary grayscale signal to a high grayscale signal using a difference between adjacent primary grayscale signals and generates first and second grayscale signals based on the high grayscale signal. The light source driver outputs a driving signal in response to the first grayscale signal. The light source generates light based on the driving signal. The data driver converts the second grayscale signal to an analog grayscale voltage and outputs the converted analog grayscale voltage. The display panel displays images in response to the analog grayscale voltage.
