A honeycomb structure capable of collecting a large amount of particulate per unit volume, capable of preventing nonuniform accumulation of ash and cracking from occurring even if used for a long period, and having excellent durability, wherein two types of through holes comprising a large capacity through hole group and a small capacity through hole group are longitudinally arranged parallel with each other through partition walls and either of the end parts of the through holes are sealed. The honeycomb structure is formed of one porous ceramic member or the combination of the plurality of porous ceramic members. The honeycomb structure is formed of a silicon- ceramic composite material having ceramics and silicon. |
