The method involves producing a web material and forming a protecting strip (18) between a feed strip (14) e.g. threading strip, and a residual web (16). The protecting strip in one position is supplied from a wastage treatment system as the residual web by rotary machine elements (70) of a web material manufacturing machine. A drier section is provided with a drying system in the web material manufacturing machine. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for feeding a web into a web material manufacturing machine (2) a system for forming a feed strip in a web material manufacturing machine.
