PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an electrophotographic photoreceptor, by which the occurrence of surface stain, the rising of residual potential and the reduction of sensitivity are suppressed, and high quality images can be outputted stably, even when being repeatedly used over a long period, and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor produced by using the method, an image forming apparatus, and a process cartridge for an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A resin layer essentially consisting of a binder resin is formed on an electrically conductive substrate (1) (resin layer forming stage). Thereafter, the resin layer is contacted with a supercritical fluid and/or subcritical fluid comprising an electronic transport substance (supercritical fluid treatment stage), so as to form an undercoat layer (2). The surface of the undercoat layer is successively provided with a charge generation layer (3) and a charge transport layer (4), so as to produce an electrophotographic photoreceptor.
