PURPOSE: A heavy duty pneumatic radial tire is provided to improve the drainage efficiency by forming a vertical groove in the center of the traveling direction of a tire applying the directionality to a horizontal groove formed to the width direction of a tire. CONSTITUTION: A heavy duty pneumatic radial tire comprises a vertical groove(GL) and a horizontal groove(GW). The vertical groove is formed to the circumference direction of a tire. The horizontal groove is formed the width direction of a tire. The vertical groove is divided into a main vertical groove(11), a shoulder sub vertical groove(12), and a center sub vertical groove(13). The main vertical groove is formed in the center of the width direction of a tire. The shoulder sub vertical groove is formed in a shoulder portion of a tire. The center sub vertical groove is formed between the vertical groove and the shoulder sub vertical groove. The inside end of the horizontal groove is connected to the main vertical groove. The horizontal groove is formed at an inclined arch shape.
