Disclosed is a system and a method for controlling an oriented direction of a display device for a vehicle. The system for controlling the oriented direction of a display device for a vehicle comprises a sensor part, an operation control part, an operation determination part, an operation drive part and an operation maintaining part. The sensor part includes multiple sensors arranged on the interior of a vehicle and detects whether a passenger exists and his/her motion to generate a detection signal. The operation control part receives and analyzes the detection signal at normal times to determine whether the oriented direction of the display device in the vehicle is controlled. The operation determination part determines the oriented direction of the display device using the analyzed result of the detection signal when it is determined that the oriented direction of the display device is controlled by the operation control part. The operation drive part is connected to the display device and rotates the oriented direction of the display device to be an oriented direction determined by the operation determination part. The operation maintaining part determines whether the oriented direction of the display device is changed depending on the drive state of the vehicle, the state of the passenger and an application executed by an audio video navigation system (AVN) outputting an image to the display device. |
