摘要 The present invention relates to a method for determining an encoding mode in a fast screen for a high efficiency video coding (HEVC), and more specifically, to a method for determining an encoding mode, which is applied before a rough mode decision (RMD) process and a rate-distortion optimization (RDO) process so as to reduce encoder complexity in the RMD process and the RDO process of intra prediction during a HEVC encoding process and reduces the number of candidate modes considered in each of the processes, thereby reducing the encoder complexity. The method for determining the encoding mode in the fast screen for the HEVC comprises: an RMD candidate mode determination step (S100) of determining an RMD candidate mode by reducing or maintaining the number of candidate modes to perform the RMD process in consideration of an edge intensity of a prediction unit (PU) among encoding modes in a screen of the HEVC; an RMD step (S200) of performing the RMD process on the RMD candidate mode acquired in the RMD candidate mode determination step (S100); an RMD cost method (S320) of determining an RDO candidate mode in consideration of an RMD cost for the mode acquired by the RMD step (S200); and an RDO step (S400) of performing the RDO process on the RDO candidate mode acquired by the RMD cost method (S320).
