EMBRYO-SPECIFIC GENE OF PLANT AND PROMOTER OF THE GENE, AND THEIR UTILIZATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene which expressed itself from an embryo-specific and embryo-expressing pole initial stage, and to provide a promoter which can induce an arbitrary gene from the embryo-specific and embryo-expressing pole initial stage.

SOLUTION: Gene expressions between a cell inducing the expression of microspore embryo and an ordinary cell continuing the formation of pollens are comprehensively analyzed by a rapeseed immature culture method. An upstream region estimated to be an expression control site in a cloned gene is cloned by an inverse PCR method using rapeseed genome DNA as a template. It is clarified that the cloned DNA fragment has a nature for strongly inducing the embryo tissue-specific expression of a foreign gene from an embryo- expressing pole early time in both a rapeseed pollen embryo-expressing process and an Arabidopsis thaliana zygotic embryo-expressing process.
