The gesture remote control apparatus comprises at least one ring and a bracelet. The gesture receiving apparatus comprises a query module and an operation module. The wireless remote control system comprises the gesture remote control apparatus and/or the gesture receiving apparatus. The method comprises: capturing position variation data and direction variation data of a finger when the finger moves in a three-dimensional space; conducting the captured position variation data and direction variation data to obtain a gesture type; and sending the gesture type to a gesture receiving apparatus, so that the gesture receiving apparatus queries a preset correlation between a gesture and a device operation to obtain a device operation instruction corresponding to the gesture type, and according to the device operation instruction, operating a terminal device. The method for operating a terminal device of the present invention is simple and quick, and is very convenient.
