An ion exchange column used for extracting noble metals from salt-solns. thereof filtering, is filled with fibrous ion exchange resin comprising a modified fibre contg. quarernary yridine grps. e.g. acetylcellulose-polymethylvinyl-pyridine graft copolymer. Used for recovery of (noble) metals from industrial and mining effluents, spent electrolytes, galvano-chemical coating solns., cinematographic and photographic effluents. High degree of extraction and purity are achieved.
