A process for the preparation of aqueous solutions of alkali organosiliconates in which organoalkoxypolysiloxanes of the formula in which R1 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a vinyl residue and/or a phenyl residue, R2 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a is a number /=80 DEG C. The liberated alcohol R2OH may be distilled and/or the concentration adjusted to the desired value by the addition of water. With the present invention, alkali chloride-free alkali organosiliconate solutions having high concentration can be obtained while avoiding a filtration step.
