A process for the preparation of aqueous solutions of alkali organosiliconates in which organoalkoxypolysiloxanes of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a vinyl residue and/or a phenyl residue, R2 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a is a number </=2, and x is 1 to 1.25, are reacted with aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide having a concentration of 0.7 to 0.9 mole/100 g at temperatures >/=80 DEG C. The liberated alcohol R2OH may be distilled and/or the concentration adjusted to the desired value by the addition of water. With the present invention, alkali chloride-free alkali organosiliconate solutions having high concentration can be obtained while avoiding a filtration step. |
