PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and durability and to minimize the space of a head and magnetic layers as far as possible by chemically modifying thin film magnetic film media of iron oxide on a nonmagnetic alloy disk-shaped substrate with an orientable lubricating agent. CONSTITUTION:The thin film magnetic film media 3 of the iron oxide are coated on the polished surfaces of nonmagnetic alloy layers 2 on an alloy disk 1. Since many hydroxyl groups exist on the surface of such magnetic iron oxide layers, a lubricative high-polymer compd. having a functional group which can react therewith is directly bonded as lubricating layers 4 to the magnetic layers. The space of the magnetic head and the magnetic layers is, therefore, minimized to the max. possible extent and the direct contact thereof is prevented. The damage of the magnetic layers by the wear thereof is thus prevented.
