PURPOSE:To simplify equipment, by connecting liquid metal inlet piping to the lower part of a cup receiving container and forming an outflow port to the upper part of said container and providing a gas sump part to the container on the downstream side thereof. CONSTITUTION:An inlet valve 16 and an outlet 22 are opened to introduce Na flowing through main system piping 14 into a sampling apparatus. Na passes through inlet piping 18 to flow in the bottom part of a cup receiving container 12 to gradually rise while extrudes the gas in the container 12 from an outflow port 42 and reaches the upper part of the container 12 to flow in the gas sump part 46 on the lateral side of the container 12 from the outflow port 42. Na downwardly flows in the sump part 46 and, since the sump part 46 has a large flow passage cross-section area as compared with the outlet and inlet pipings 20, 18 and slow in a flow speed, gas is stored in the space of the sump part 46. Next, when the valves 16, 22 are closed and a bypass valve 48 is opened, Na in the container 12 except the interiors of cups 10 flows backward from the bottom part of the container 12 to enter the sump part 46 through a bypass pipe 50 and, with the inflow of Na, the gas in the sump part 46 contrarily enters the container 12 from the outflow port 42. By this method, Na in the container 12 is replaced with the gas in the sump part 46 and, after Na is solidified in the cups 10, a partition valve 32 is closed and the container 12 is detached at the places of pipe joints 34 to the subjected to analysis.
