POLYPEPTIDE DERIVATIVE HAVING VIP-LIKE ACTIVITY AND USE THEREOF

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X is amino acid residue other than Met; Y is amidated homoserine, a reaction product of homoserine lactone with <=20C primary aliphatic amine or an arbitrary polypeptide containing amidated homoserine at Cterminal). USE:A bronchodilator or a remedy for impotence. PREPARATION:A peptide having the amino acid sequence of formula II is dissolved in a formic acid solution and reacted with cyanogen bromide to convert the C-terminal to homoserine or homoserine lactone. More than 70% of the C-terminal can be converted to lactone-type by treating the above product with an acid. The acid treated product is further treated with a solution containing ammonia dissolved in DMF to obtain L-leucine-17-VIP having homoserine amide-type C-terminal.
