METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR POLISHING BEANS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly remove a stain from the surfaces of beans even if beans are severely stained.

SOLUTION: Stirring blades 4 for polishing beans while stirring and feeding beans mixed with a polishing material are arranged in a polishing cylinder 3 having a hopper 5 to be a charging port at one end thereof and a discharge port 6 at the other end thereof and an opening degree adjusting mechanism 21 for adjusting the opening degree of the discharge part 6 is provided to the discharge part 6 while a polishing material separator 8 for separating beans after polishing from the polishing material is provided on the downstream side of the discharge part 6. When the surfaces of beans are severely stained, the opening degree of the discharge part 6 is narrowed by the opening degree adjusting mechanism 21 not only to increase the density of the beans mixed with the polishing material in the polishing cylinder 3 but also to raise the frictional pressure applied to the beans mixed with the polishing material.
