<p>Preparing a hybrid organodisilanol cpd. of formula (I): HO-R1R2SiCnH2nRCnH2nSiR1R2-OH; R1,R2 = 1-12C alkyl, phenyl, 3-12C halogenated alkyl, alkylphenyl radicals and monovalent radicals derived from telomers or cotelomers of fluorinated organic monomers, with the proviso that there is no more than one phenyl gp. per Si atom; n = 2 or 3; R = divalent organic gp. selected from (a) -O(CtH2tO)m- (t=2-12, m=1-6), (b) 2-12C branched or linear divalent hydrocarbon gps., (c) branched or linear divalent fluorohydrocarbon gps., and (d) derivs. of alkylene-terminated telechelic divalent telomers or cotelomers. comprises: (A) reacting a dihydridosilane of formula (II): R1R2SiH2 with a diene of formula (III): CnH2n-1RCnH2n-1 to provide a dihydrido cpd. of formula (IV): H-R1R2SiCnH2nRCnH2nSiR1R2-H and (B) reacting the cpd. (IV) with a buffered water soln. in the presence of a palladium catalyst. Also claimed are: (i) hybrid-sila-organo-polysiloxane; (ii) lubricating a substrate by applying a lubricant contg. the hybrid-sila-organo-polysiloxane above; (iii) sealing a joint by applying a curable sealant prepd. from the hybrid-sila-organo-polysiloxane above to the joint and curing the sealant; and (iv) preparing a cured rubber compsn. from the hybrid-sila-organo-polysiloxane above.</p> |
