Attachment of objects onto foamed components and screws and/or threaded dowels for joining method

A hole is melted in the foamed component at each attachment point and a screw (10) and/or threaded dowel is inserted in each hole. An Independent claim is made for the screw (10) or threaded dowel which has a thread free cylindrical extension (15) of the threaded shaft (12). The extension diameter is less than the outer diameter of the thread (16). PREFERRED FEATURES:- The hole is cylindrical with a conical end and is produced by frictional heat effected by rotation of the thread-free extension of a screw and/or threaded dowel. Alternatively the hole may be formed as a cylindrical annular channel.
