The invention concerns a single mode dispersion-shifted optical fibre, having a sheathing with a given index (n3), and a fibre core with a central part of index (n2) less than that of the sheathing an outer part of index (n1) greater than that of the sheathing, the index profile of said fibre being such that the central and outer parts are mutually linked by a sloping flank. The invention is characterised in that the central part with index profile (n2) is V-shaped.
