<p>The present invention concerns methods for determining the number of platelets in a sample. A liquid medium comprising the sample such as a whole blood sample and a matrix such as particles with which is associated a binding molecule such as an antibody for a platelet cell surface glycoprotein receptor is subjected to agglutination conditions. The agglutination of the matrix is measured as an indication of the number of receptors present in the medium. The measurement above is then related to the number of platelets in the sample. Also disclosed are kits for carrying out an enumeration of platelets in a sample.</p> |
