PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate in a comparatively short time whether or not a printed matter coped by a scanner is a copy-prohibited matter, such as a paper money. SOLUTION: First a scanner applies preliminary scanning to a copy object to read the object by a rough pixel density (S10) and checks whether or not the copy object is a copy-prohibited matter on the basis of the read picture (S20). After the end of checking, the scanner applies main scanning to the picture (S40, S90) to obtain an image with high and desired density. Then the possibility that the copy object is a copy-prohibited matter is checked according to the above checking (S30), and when the possibility is low, an image with a high density is outputted (S90), and when the possibility is high, the image is again checked (S50). As a result of the check, the possibility of the copy object to be the copy-prohibited matter is checked (S60), and when the possibility is high, processing such as daubing the image is done (S70) to output a non- normal image, and when the possibility is low, the normal image is outputted. |
