PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit a generation of delay at a change control of an air amount accompanying with an operation delay when the operation delay is generated in an intake valve opening area change means. SOLUTION: The intake air amount control device is provided with a variable valve timing device 8 capable of changing an opening area of an intake valve 2 for changing and controlling an intake air amount and a 3D cam system 12 and a throttle valve 17. When an operation delay DLY of the variable valve timing device 8 and the 3D cam system 12 is larger than a threshold value TDLY, a ratio for controlling a throttle valve opening is increased (mode A) to control the intake air amount as compared with the case that the operation delay DLY is not more than the threshold value TDLY (mode B).
