PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a survey method and a management method for rails for allowing a ceiling crane to travel, which can dynamically measure the behavior of the ceiling crane travel rails, accurately detect an element having a high correlation with a generated stress of the ceiling crane, and sharply prolong the usable life of the ceiling crane. SOLUTION: A difference in gradient of the right and left ceiling crane travel rails on runway girders where the ceiling crane travels is detected to perform management. More specifically, clinometers 10 are installed on saddles on both sides of the ceiling crane or near them, and the ceiling crane is made to travel on the ceiling crane travel rails 2, or is put in a surveying range of the ceiling crane travel rails, and the difference in gradient between the left and right rails 2 installed on the runway girders 1, is detected from a change in the inclination angle of each saddle or near them are detected.
