PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable one common position indicator to be used for a plurality of types of position detection systems.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for setting a constitution type in a position indicator which can switch and set a plurality of constitution types and has a communication unit, setting means, generation means for generating a signal for position detection and control means. The communication unit includes a communication step for communicating with an external device, the setting means includes a setting step for performing the initial setting including processing about the setting of a constitution type on the basis of a signal from the external device received in the communication step, and the control means includes a control step for controlling transmission of the signal for position detection at least from the generation means on the basis of the initial setting performed in the setting step and a signal received from the external device through the communication unit in the communication step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
