<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium of a phase change type for enhancing a high linear velocity characteristic and storage characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium of the phase change type in which a recording layer 3 transits between an amorphous and a crystal phase characterized in that the recording layer receiving emission of an electromagnetic wave is crystallized while a disk face is rotated and the recording layer is made of a material transiting to the crystal phase under the following condition: in a pole figure measurement where an angle Φ (rotary angle in a circumferential direction of a substrate) and an angle Ψ (tilt angle of the substrate) are varied, the following diffraction peak has a maximum value at Φ=85 to 95° or Φ=265 to 285° with the angle Ψ of 70° or over (where, the diffraction peak denotes a diffraction peak at a face interval d=2.97 to 3.3 Å in an X-ray diffraction spectrum using a Kα ray of copper for a light source of an incident X-ray (the incident angle θ of the X-ray is θ=13.5 to 15-degrees from a disk face and the diffraction angle 2θ=27 to 30°). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
